The paper presents selected results of vision and thermovision tests of the milling process, chip formation and the constitution of the geometric structure of the surface. The milling tests were carried out with the use of AZ91D magnesium alloy. The study used the HSS Co tool by PRECITOOL 161701 with a diameter of d = 20mm. The processing was carried out for the established sets of technological processing parameters. The results of measurements and calculations are presented on the charts. The shape and form of chips produced during machining and their temperature during cutting are presented. Based on SEM photos, an attempt was made to explain the mechanism of step chip formation.
