This work presents a low-complexity one-dimensional (1-D) multiple signal classification (MUSIC)-based algorithm to jointly estimate the angles and multipath propagation delays in frequency-hopping (FH) systems. The algorithm uses a hierarchical signal decomposition technique with a spatial beamforming process in between, which thus entails high parameter estimation accuracy with low complexity. Furthermore, the residues propagating between the 1-D MUSICs are scrutinized, and the analytic expressions for the mean square errors (MSEs) of the estimated parameters are established.
