The interleaving technology improves the proximity between bits by dispersing the coded bits into different frames, so as to obtain better decoding performance, which is called time diversity. In the fast frequency hopping (FFH) scheme, each symbol is transmitted through one or more frequencies, so that the interference is averaged between several carrier frequencies, which is called frequency diversity. This paper introduces the idea of interleaving into the FFH scheme and proposes a joint design of fast frequency hopping and time hopping (FFH-TH), which can obtain the benefits of frequency diversity and time diversity simultaneously. In the presence of pulse full-band interference, the FFH-TH scheme can achieve better overall bit error rate performance under hard decision than the FFH scheme, which is strictly theoretically proven in the paper. In addition, random time hopping also brings anti-deciphering effect to demodulation.
