We address the problem of traffic jams at connected intersections by proposing a simplified model for a network of four connected intersections, each has four incoming and four outgoing single lane roads. The proposed model, on the other hand, is flexible and can fit to any real case study with different intersections structures and topologies. We conduct discrete-event simulation in order to sturdy the effect of traffic arrival rate and traffic directions on average processing time for cars. We show that delay exhibits exponential behavior with regards to a Poisson's arrival model. This is essential to identify the pivotal paramors for traffic delay based on the arrival rate, and then use it in order to suggest methods to reduce this delay.
