Each year and only in Spain, more than 16,000 wildfires account for the devastation of over 200,000 ha of forest, causing the loss of human life and incurring costs of more than 620 million euros in the last 10 years [1]. This disaster also has a direct consequence in the reduction of the forest biomass, causing severe damage to the Earth’s forest ecosystem.
