Traditional guidance, navigation, and control computing systems follow federated architecture with dedicated systems for each one. Whereas, the tactical missile requires highly integrated, small size, less weight modular avionics. The authors developed the low cost integrated navigation, guidance & control and telemetry system. The system is partitioned into inertial measurement unit and GNC computing platform with telemetry module. The computing system is developed based on an ARM multi-core cortex-A9 processor. The navigation, guidance & control and telemetry are configured on separate cores of the ARM processor. The data between cores exchange through shared memory with interrupt based synchronization. The proposed architecture improves the integration efficiency by optimally utilizing the resources and providing modularity and flexibility with less space, weight, and power.
