This research introduces a FOPID controller designed for a Vehicle Suspension System (VSS) using the Aquila Optimization (AO) algorithm. The goal is to improve ride comfort by mitigating the impacts caused by uneven and rough roads. The VSS model utilized for designing the AOFOPIDC is a fourth-order system. By integrating the AO algorithm, the conventional PID controller is enhanced to achieve better control performance. The superior control performance of the AO-FOPIDC is confirmed through a comparative analysis with other well-known control methods. The comparative outcomes indicate that the proposed approach is highly effective for maintaining dynamics of the VSF within a steady range, thereby ensuring precision, stability and robustness.
