Sideband instability (SI) is a nonlinear phenomenon that may appear in periodical amplified systems, inducing the growth of sharp peaks in the ASE noise spectra. We developed an analytical tool to evaluate the spectral position of SI peaks, and show its dependence on system parameters. Then, we discuss the phenomenon impact in practical systems.
