Summary form only given. We investigated fiber nonlinearity induced noise in long-distance transmission systems with dispersion management, theoretically and experimentally. The theoretically expected strong sideband instability gain resulting from periodic dispersion management was observed, for the first time, in the recirculating loop experiment. To construct a long-distance transmission system, we should suppress this sideband instability.
