The photovoltaic industry is developing rapidly and has become one of the main means of utilizing solar energy resources. As the huge amount of solar energy resources, the photovoltaic system can accelerate the green transformation of the port. In this paper, based on the characteristics of solar resource endowment of port and considering the construction factors of photovoltaic system, the assessment method for the photovoltaic system in port is proposed. Specifically, different photovoltaic utilization coefficients are assigned to the land types of ports, and the numerical model of photovoltaic panel is built. Then, the photovoltaic potential assessment model of the port is obtained. The feasibility of the construction of photovoltaic system in port is obtained by considering economy and carbon emission reduction. Finally, the reasonableness and feasibility of the proposed method are verified through the suitability assessment of photovoltaic system in Ningbo-Zhoushan Port. In 17 years, the PV power generation potential of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port is 68550.07 GWh, the net present value is 36.118 billion yuan, and the carbon reduction emission is 38.6×106 t, which provides a port scheme for the “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality” goals.
