This paper deals with the incorporation of an inbuilt charging system of electric vehicles which can charge the vehicles while they are running. The system consists of a PMSM (Permanent magnet synchronous motor) fixed on the front wheel shaft which works as the drive circuit and a PMSG (Permanent magnet synchronous generator) fixed on the rear wheel shaft of the vehicle which converts the kinetic energy of the rotating shaft into electric energy which is further fed to the battery (Li-ion) pack which acts as a source of energy for vehicles. The simulation model of the system described can charge the battery of 144 volts, 6.5 amperes in 1.39 hours from the inbuilt charging system while the vehicle is in motion and when the vehicle is at rest mode the ac supply can be used for its charging.
