Adjusting the timetable and speed profile of trains can bring significant reduction in energy consumption, which is almost zero cost to the subway operating company. This paper proposes an integrated optimization method for a single train, to simultaneously obtain the optimal speed profile and the interstation trip time distribution of the whole journey by dynamic programming (DP). With modeling the traction power supply system (TPSS), the practical location of substations is considered, which can achieve the whole journey energy minimization at substation level by the designed DP algorithm. Practical data from Guangzhou Metro Line 8 is applied to validate the proposed methodology in the case study.
