Switched reluctance motors (SRMs) have large torque pulsations, which limit their practical applications in electric vehicle drive systems and general industries. In this paper, a fuzzy control strategy is proposed based on the traditional PI control, that is, fuzzy control is introduced in the speed control loop to improve the control effect of the traditional dual-loop PI control with fixed parameters for SRM as nonlinear control object. Based on the calculation of the SRM parameters using electromagnetic field finite element software to establish the motor model, a traditional PI control motor model with fuzzy control introduced in the speed control loop to suppress torque pulsations in the motor control model is built on the MATLAB/SIMULINK platform. Through simulation experiments, the simulated motor speed, load torque, and other information are input into the motor control model, and the graphs of speed, torque, and current changes over time can be obtained. Comparison results conclude that the fuzzy rule control has better suppressing effect on SRM torque pulsations compared with the traditional PI control method.
