This work reports on cochannel interferences originating from out-of-band leakages of ISM equipment in the course and coverage area of the localizer beam of an instrument landing system. The interfering sources can produce a valid false runway axis in space which may deviate an aircraft in automatic flight conditions from the prescribed approach and landing route. This potential threat calls for severe regulations on ISM equipment.
