The combination of IoT technology and electric vehicles (EVs) is reshaping transportation systems. This study explores how IoT-enabled EVs align with SMART (Sustainable, Multimodal, Adaptive, Resilient, and Technology-driven) transportation systems. The collaboration between these concepts promises to redefine urban mobility, improve efficiency, lower environmental impact, and enhance user experiences. IoT-equipped EVs have sensors for real-time performance, energy, and location monitoring. They form a network, generating valuable data streams for various uses. Simultaneously, SMART transportation integrates dynamic traffic management, data-driven choices, and diverse transport modes for comprehensive mobility. The incorporation of Internet of Things (IoT) technology into electric vehicles (EVs) has a substantial impact on transportation networks. This study investigates how IoT-enabled EVs interact with SMART (Sustainable, Multimodal, Adaptive, Resilient, and Technology-driven) transportation systems, which have the potential to revolutionise urban mobility, improve efficiency, minimise environmental impact, and improve user experiences. The emphasis has recently been on constructing smart cities; however, it is critical not to forget the need for efficient parking management. Finding a good parking location and saving time are perennial issues for city drivers. This study introduces a revolutionary parking toll system that connects users via a mobile app and allows them to make parking payments in real time. The system scans the car’s RFID tag with an RFID reader, giving admission to and leave from the parking space. Parking period is estimated as a cost, which users may monitor and pay using the app. Furthermore, the app informs users about the availability of parking spaces. Additionally, users can charge their electric vehicles during the parking period.
