A broadband, W-band gyro-traveling-wave-tube (gyro-TWT) amplifier is currently under development at CPI. The gyro-TWT is used as a driver for other previously developed and planned high-power W-band gyro-amplifiers. Details of the gyro-TWT design and recent experimental demonstrations, which have resulted in measured peak output powers up to 1.5 kW and -3 dB bandwidths up to 7 GHz, are described.
