The development of a high-duty, broadband W-band gyro-traveling-wave-tube (gyro-TWT) amplifier has recently been completed. The gyro-TWT will be used as a driver for other previously developed and planned high-power W-band gyro-amplifiers. Details of the gyro-TWT design and recent experimental demonstrations, which have resulted in measured peak output powers up to 2 kW at 40% duty cycle and -3 dB bandwidths up to 6.5 GHz, are described below.
