In this paper, an analysis of the oscillations in the auxiliary resonant commutated pole (ARCP) inverter is presented. Two different oscillation scenarios were found: 1) in the main current path between the resonant capacitor and the parasitic inductances and 2) in the auxiliary path between the resonant inductor and the IGBTs parasitic output capacitance. Equivalent circuits containing the critical L-C resonant components creating the oscillatory circuits are presented, and a mathematical analysis is performed. Significant current oscillations were observed in both scenarios for a single-phase ARCP inverter prototype. Two mitigation methods are proposed, tested, and evaluated on the single-phase prototype. A comparison of the performance of the oscillation's mitigation methods was performed, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.
