Flashover characteristics along different insulation materials, GPO3 and PPS, were tested and studied, especially in the ambient condition mimicking SPS (Shipboard Power System). The objective of this research is to produce a guide to estimate SPS insulation flashover possibilities under diverse ambient conditions. Experiments were conducted under both DC and transient overvoltage, simulating different flashover dynamics in MVDC (Medium-Voltage Direct Current) SPS. Data sets were summarized and compared under different climate condition and with each other. Some numerical and empirical conclusions are drawn from experiments of this study.
