Due to the lack of appropriate data recording instruments, the flight data of navigable aircraft have been rarely recorded and analyzed in China for a long time. According to the relevant civil aviation standards, a flight data recorder for general aviation aircraft is developed, which has small volume and light weight. It can independently record video, audio and flight data during flight, and does not need too many interfaces to connect with the aircraft, so it is easy to install. It also has the function of real-time data transmission by using the short message of BeiDou navigation satellite system. In case of a crash, it can quickly and accurately locate the search and rescue range and shorten the rescue time. It can provide help for safety management, operation quality assurance, teaching management and maintenance and accident investigation. The overall design scheme, hardware design scheme and embedded software design scheme of the system are introduced. A flight test was carried out using an aircraft. The accuracy and effectiveness of the recorded results are verified by the analysis of the actual flight data. The flight data recorder has obtained the China Technical Standard Order Authorization and has been used on a variety of general aviation aircraft in China.
