This paper details the steps involved in planning and performing a system level test on a complete avionics system to show compliance with HIRF certification requirements. Honeywell's Business & Commuter Aviation System Division has performed these tests of eleven aircraft systems since the HIRF special conditions were applied to certifications beginning in early 1990. The steps involved include determining the applicability of the requirements, planning the testing, writing the test procedure, conducting the tests, and writing the test report.<>
