Here we present the first nanosecond OPO based on LiInSe/sub 2/ (LISe) pumped by a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser at repetition rates ranging from 10 to 100 Hz. Our interest in LISe is motivated by its superior thermal properties (3 to 4 times better thermal conductivity, about two times lower thermo-optic coefficients and isotropic thermal expansion) in comparison to AGS.
