In this research study, a single axis gimbal flywheel active magnetic bearing (AMB) system is modelled and analyzed under the effects of inertial loads. Electromagnetic forces of an AMB system suspend a flywheel rotor without any mechanical contact. Magnetic bearings need active control and generally designed to work in fixed systems. Gimbal angular movement imposes extra loads on magnetic bearings. A complete modelling of gimbal flywheel-AMB is derived and an H controller design is presented. Simulations are realized and some results are presented.
