The spectral broadening of the 50 femtosecond pulses from the Cr:YAG laser at 1.5 /spl mu/m in a tapered fiber with 1.4 /spl mu/m taper waist diameter is observed. The broadening mechanism around the second dispersion zero is studied experimentally and numerically.
