System and method for improving braking efficiency by increasing the magnitude of a frictional force between a tire of a vehicle wheel and a road surface. Braking efficiency may be improved by controlling the normal force applied on the wheel, with an active suspension actuator, based on the wheel's slip ratio.

    L'invention concerne un système et un procédé pour améliorer l'efficacité de freinage par augmentation de l'amplitude d'une force de frottement entre un pneu d'une roue de véhicule et une surface de route. L'efficacité de freinage peut être améliorée par la commande de la force normale appliquée sur la roue, avec un actionneur de suspension active, sur la base du rapport de glissement de la roue.
