A transmitting device for driving optical communication of an LED vehicle light, comprising a CPU processor and a voltage transformation circuit; the CPU processor is in communication with a vehicle LIN/CAN bus via an interface circuit and is in communication with the voltage transformation circuit; the voltage transformation circuit is in driving connection with the LED vehicle light via a high frequency semiconductor switch; the LED vehicle light is provided with a forward voltage test circuit; an output end of the forward voltage test circuit is connected to the CPU processor; an electric level output end of the CPU processor is successively connected to a D/A conversion circuit, a low pass filter circuit and a constant current voltage control circuit; an output end of the constant current voltage control circuit is connected to a reference voltage end of the voltage transformation circuit. A method for driving an LED vehicle light to communicate optically can dynamically adjust the electric level and frequency of the current waveform of communication data. The present invention solves the problem in existing optical communication techniques that the lighting effect and energy saving performance of the LED vehicle light are affected by a communication capability.
