The present invention relates to a method for controlling operation of a fuel cell of a fuel cell vehicle to increase mileage of the fuel cell vehicle and a system thereof. According to the present invention, the method comprises the following steps: detecting a state of charge (SOC) of a high-voltage battery; determining whether the detected SOC of the high-voltage battery is within a range between a preset minimum recommended SOC and a preset maximum recommended SOC; and controlling whether to perform power generation of the fuel cell or stop the fuel cell by comparing a requested current amount of the vehicle with a preset current value requesting fuel cell stop mode-entry, which stops power generation of the fuel cell, and a preset current value requesting fuel cell stop mode-cancelation.

    본 발명에 따른 연료전지 차량의 연료전지 운전 제어 방법은 고전압 배터리의 충전량(SOC: State of Charge)을 검출하는 단계; 검출된 상기 고전압 배터리의 충전량이 기 설정된 최소 권장 충전량 내지 최대 권장 충전량 영역 내에 있는지 밖에 있는지를 판단하는 단계; 및 차량의 요구 전류량을 기 설정된 연료전지의 발전을 정지시키는 연료전지 정지모드 진입 요구전류 값 및 연료전지 정지모드 해제 요구전류 값과 비교하여 연료전지를 발전시킬지 또는 정지시킬지를 제어하는 단계;를 포함할 수 있다.
