According to an embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for controlling a lane change in a vehicle comprises a sensor configured to sense an object located behind the vehicle and a control circuit configured to be electrically connected with the sensor. The control circuit is configured to receive sensing data from the sensor and switch a system for a lane change in the vehicle to a stand-by state, when an object located outside a specified distance backward from the vehicle is sensed by the sensor.
