According to the present invention, disclosed are an electric steering device and a control method thereof. The electric steering device of the present invention comprises: a vehicle speed sensor detecting a vehicle speed of a vehicle; a yaw rate sensor detecting an inclined state of the vehicle to output a yaw rate value; a steering detecting portion detecting a steering state of a driver; and a recovery control portion estimating a recovery force based on the vehicle speed, the yaw rate value, and the steering state each inputted from the vehicle speed sensor, the yaw rate sensor, and the steering detecting portion, when a failure of a torque sensor is detected, and outputting a final recovery force by improving reactivity in accordance with steering intention.
본 발명은 전동식 조향장치 및 그 제어방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 전동식 조향장치는, 차량의 차속을 검출하는 차속센서; 차량의 기울어진 상태를 감지하여 요레이트값을 출력하는 요레이트 센서; 운전자의 조향상태를 감지하는 조향감지부; 및 토크센서의 고장이 감지되면, 차속센서, 요레이트 센서 및 조향감지부로부터 각각 입력된 차속, 요레이트값 및 조향상태를 기반으로 복원력을 추정하고 조향의지에 따라 반응성을 향상시켜 최종 복원력을 출력하는 복원 제어부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
