The present invention relates to the field of an electric vehicle (EV) driven at least partly by an electric motor. An on-board charger (OBC) responsible for charging a battery supply based on electronic power received from a source is included on the EV. The OBC is configured to detect a specific voltage or current characteristic during the charging operation of the battery supply and thereby adjust an allowed operating limit for the OBC. An electric vehicle charging system includes an interface, a power convertor, and a controller.
