The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for controlling a distance between vehicles. The method comprises: a step of acquiring forward information of a vehicle through a forward recognition sensor; a step of extracting forward road information with respect to a forward road using the forward information; and a step of determining whether a curved road appears or not and whether the curved road ends or not in front of the vehicle based on the forward road information; and a step of controlling the speed of the vehicle depending on whether the curved road appears or not and whether the curved road ends or not.
