The present invention relates to a traffic signal recognition apparatus and method of an autonomous vehicle to determine a high priority traffic signal when two or more traffic signals ahead of the autonomous vehicle are recognized by a camera sensor embedded in the autonomous vehicle. The traffic signal recognition apparatus of the autonomous vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the camera sensor embedded in the vehicle to recognize traffic signals during traveling of the vehicle; a traffic signal order determination unit for converting the camera sensor into a traffic signal determination mode when two or more traffic signals are recognized by the camera sensor, so as to recognize the arrangement of light sources arranged in the two or more traffic signals to discriminate a front traffic signal and a rear traffic signal; and a traveling control unit for preferentially reflecting the sign of the front traffic signal determined by the traffic signal order determination unit to control the traveling of the vehicle.

    이 발명은 자율주행차량에 탑재된 카메라 센서에서 인식되는 전방의 신호등이 2개 이상일 경우 우선순위의 신호등을 판별하기 위한 자율주행차량의 신호등 인식장치 및 인식방법에 관한 것이다. 이 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 자율주행차량의 신호등 인식장치는 차량에 탑재되어 차량 주행 중 신호등을 인식하는 카메라 센서; 카메라 센서에서 둘 이상의 신호등이 인식되는 경우, 카메라 센서는 신호등 구별 모드로 전환되어 둘 이상의 신호등에 배열된 광원의 배열을 인식하여 전방 신호등과 후방 신호등을 구별하는 신호등 순서구별부; 및 신호등 순서구별부에 의해 판별된 전방 신호등의 신호를 우선 반영하여 차량의 주행을 제어하는 주행제어부; 를 포함하여 이루어질 수 있다.
