The present embodiments provide an apparatus and method for compensating the maximum detection distance capable of preventing degradation of the performance of a close-in weapon system installed in a ship by calculating the maximum detection distance of a radar and changing the steering angle of the radar in consideration of the real-time atmospheric environment. The present invention relates to an apparatus for compensating the maximum detection distance of a close-in weapon system. The apparatus for compensating the maximum detection distance of a close-in weapon system comprises: a radio wave refractive index calculation unit which calculates a radio refractive index based on atmospheric environment information; a propagation loss calculation unit calculating propagation loss by applying the radio refractive index; a detection probability calculation unit configured to calculate a detection probability by applying the propagation loss; a detection distance prediction unit for estimating a maximum detection distance by applying the detection probability; and a radar beam operating unit adjusting a radar beam steering angle to compensate for the maximum detection distance.
본 실시예들은 실시간 대기 환경을 고려하여 레이더의 최대 탐지 거리를 산출하고 레이더의 조향각을 변경하는 방식을 통해 함정에 설치된 근접 방어 무기 시스템의 성능 저하를 방지할 수 있는 최대 탐지 거리 보상 장치 및 방법을 제공한다.
