The present invention provides a gear shift indicator (GSI) and a gear shift indicating method, based on speed demanded by a driver. The purpose is to enable a vehicle to drive with an optimal fuel efficiency by additionally improving fuel efficiency in comparison with an existing GSI to solve a problem of the existing GSI. A main concept of the present invention is a method for recognizing the speed demanded by the driver by a controller and a use thereof, which are to indicate the vehicle speed to improve the fuel efficiency of cruise control driving by inducing a proper speed change of the driver and expressing a maximum fuel efficiency speed and a gear stage. According to the present invention, the GSI and the gear shift indicating method use the speed demanded by the driver to induce the driver to properly change the speed by the GSI with a purpose of improving the fuel efficiency, not using the speed demanded by the driver directly for torque control so as to satisfy the speed demanded by the driver like an existing cruise control. Also, the GSI uses the speed demanded by the driver, which is inputted in the GSI, for an ECO GSI control strategy in a step of following an ultimate target speed (VST) by using the speed demanded by the driver as the VST or when a current speed approaches the speed demanded by the driver.

    본 발명은 기존 GSI의 문제점을 해결하여 기존 GSI 대비 추가적인 연비 개선이 가능하도록 함으로써 최적의 연비 주행을 하도록 하는 것이다. 본 발명의 주된 개념은, 운전자 요구 속도를 제어기가 인식할 수 있는 방법과 그에 대한 활용으로 운전자의 적절한 변속을 유도함과 아울러, 최대 연비 속도와 기어 단수를 표출함으로써 정속 주행 연비가 개선되도록 차량 속도까지 지시하기 위한 것이다. 본 발명에 따르면 운전자 요구 속도를, 기존 크루즈컨트롤처럼 운전자의 요구 속도를 만족하기 위해 직접적으로 이를 토크제어에 활용하지 않고, 연비 개선을 목적으로 운전자에게 GSI를 통해 적절한 변속을 유도하도록 활용한다. 또한 본 발명의 변속 지시장치(GSI)에 입력된 운전자 요구 속도를 궁극적인 목표 속도(VST)로 놓고 그 값을 추종하는 과정 또는 현재 속도가 운전자 요구 속도에 근접했을 때에 ECO GSI 제어 전략에 활용한다.
