본 발명은 교통정보 제공 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 차량으로부터 상기 차량의 위치정보를 수신하는 차량 위치정보 수신부 및 상기 차량 위치정보 수신부를 통해 수신된 위치정보에 근거하여 상기 차량이 새로운 링크에 진입하는 것으로 판단되면 상기 링크의 평균속도를 산출하고, 상기 산출된 평균속도에 근거하여 상기 링크의 정체 여부를 판단하며, 상기 링크가 정체인 것으로 판단되는 경우에 미리 생성된 링크별 대기행렬 모형 및 상기 평균속도에 근거하여 상기 링크의 대기행렬 길이를 예측하고, 상기 예측된 대기행렬 길이에 근거하여 상기 링크에 대한 교통정보를 산출하는 제어부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.

    The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for providing traffic information. The apparatus for providing traffic information includes: a vehicle position information receiving unit which receives position information of a vehicle from the vehicle; and a control unit. The control unit calculates an average speed of a new link when it is determined that the vehicle enters the link based on the position information received through the vehicle position information receiving unit; determines whether or not the link is congested based on the calculated average speed; predicts a waiting line length of the link based on a waiting line model by previously generated link and the average speed when it is determined that the link is congested; and calculates traffic information on the link based on the predicted waiting line length. Therefore, the present invention can provide various kinds of traffic information.
