A vehicle velocity detection method for detecting the velocity of a vehicle traveling on a road is disclosed. A sensor for detecting the presence or absence of a vehicle traveling on a road is provided. The sensor has a detection area on a line inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the traveling direction of the vehicle on the road. When a part of the vehicle starts to enter the detection area, a start time is measured, and when the entire part of the vehicle in the width direction enters the detection area, a completion time is measured. The velocity of the vehicle is calculated using the time difference between the completion time and the start time, a predetermined angle, and the width of the vehicle.

    도로를 주행하는 차량의 속도를 검지하기 위한 차량 속도 검지 방법이 개시된다. 도로를 주행하는 차량의 존부를 검지하기 위한 센서를 마련한다. 센서는 차량의 도로상에서의 주행 방향에 대해 소정 각도로 경사진 선상의 검지영역을 갖는다. 검지영역에 차량의 일 부위가 진입을 개시하면 개시시점을 측정하고, 검지영역에 차량의 폭 방향의 전체 영역의 진입이 완료되면 완료시점을 측정한다. 완료시점과 개시시점의 시간차와 소정 각도 및 차량의 폭을 이용하여 차량의 속도를 산출한다.
