Disclosed are a traffic light apparatus sensing a failure of a traffic light, and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the traffic light apparatus includes at least one display light for displaying a traffic signal and senses a failure of a traffic light. The traffic light apparatus comprises: a power supply unit supplying power to at least one display light; and a processor controlling a power providing unit to provide power to the at least one display light. The at least one display light includes a plurality of light-emitting diodes which are grouped into a predetermined plurality of groups. The processor detects an output voltage value per a plurality of groups, compares the output voltage value detected per the plurality of groups to determine at least one group which includes an LED in which an error has occurred.

    신호등 고장을 감지하는 신호등 장치 및 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명에 따른 교통 신호를 표시하기 위한 적어도 하나의 표시등을 포함하는 신호등의 고장을 감지하는 신호등 장치는 적어도 하나의 표시등에 전원을 공급하는 전원 공급부 및 적어도 하나의 표시등에 전원을 공급하도록 전원 공급부를 제어하는 프로세서를 포함하며, 적어도 하나의 표시등은, 기설정된 복수의 그룹으로 그룹핑된 복수의 LED(Light-Emitting Diode)를 포함하며, 프로세서는, 복수의 그룹별 출력 전압값을 검출하고, 복수의 그룹별로 검출된 출력 전압값을 비교하여 이상이 발생한 LED를 포함하는 적어도 하나의 그룹을 판단한다.
