A hybrid electric vehicle according to the present invention includes: a driving unit for driving a driving wheel; a motor configured to supply a driving force to the driving unit during low-speed driving; an engine configured to supply a driving force to the driving unit during high-speed driving; a battery configured to supply a current to the motor; a generator configured to charge the battery by using power generated by the engine; a control unit configured to control the motor, the engine, and the generator; an exhaust pipe configured to discharge exhaust gas generated by the engine to the outside; a cooling jacket mounted on the engine; a radiator configured to receive cooling water extracted from the cooling jacket through a cooling water extraction pipe and returning the cooling water to the cooling jacket through a cooling water supply pipe after cooling the cooling water; and a thermoelectric element including a heating part configured to receive heat of the exhaust gas flowing through the inside of the exhaust pipe and a cooling part cooled by the cooling water flowing through the inside of the cooling water supply pipe, and charging the battery by generating electricity when the exhaust gas flows through the inside of the battery and the cooling water flows through the cooling water supply pipe. Accordingly, the battery is charged through a regenerative breaking mode during low-speed driving and can be charged by using heat of the exhaust gas during high-speed driving.

    본 발명에 의한 하이브리드 전기자동차는, 구동휠을 구동시키기 위한 주행부; 저속 주행 시 상기 주행부에 구동력을 공급하는 모터; 고속 주행 시 상기 주행부에 구동력을 공급하는 엔진; 상기 모터에 전류를 공급하는 배터리; 상기 엔진에서 발생된 동력을 이용하여 상기 배터리를 충전시키는 발전기; 상기 모터와 엔진과 발전기의 동작을 제어하는 제어부; 상기 엔진에서 발생된 배기가스를 외부로 배출시키는 배기관; 상기 엔진에 장착되는 냉각자켓; 냉각수인출관을 통해 상기 냉각자켓에서 인출되는 냉각수를 전달받아 냉각시킨 후 냉각수공급관을 통해 상기 냉각자켓으로 회송시키는 라디에이터; 및 상기 배기관 내측을 흐르는 배기가스의 열을 전달받는 가열부와, 상기 냉각수공급관 내측을 흐르는 냉각수에 의해 냉각되는 냉각부를 구비하여, 상기 배기관 내측으로 배기가스가 흐르고 상기 냉각수공급관 내측으로 냉각수가 흐를 때 전기를 발생시켜 상기 배터리를 충전시키는 열전소자;를 포함하여 구성된다.
