To provide a robot moving system which moves along a vertical surface such as an external surface of a building.SOLUTION: A position of a robot body 12 and lengths of right and left chains 6a (6b), 7a (7b) delivered from each delivery/winding device 2 are uniquely determined in a movable range of the robot body 12. Therefore, the lengths of the right and left chains are known by displaying the movable range of the robot body 12 to a controller and designating an objective position in the displayed movable range with a finger tip, for instance. As a result, the number of rotation to be a prescribed delivery length is automatically transmitted to a servo motor 3 and the movement of the robot body 12 is remotely controlled. When the robot body moves to a portion near a limit of the movable range, the support body 8 is inclined within a vertical surface because points of actions in the right and left chains with respect to the support body 8 are different, but the robot body 12 maintains its horizontal state even if the support body 8 is inclined because the robot body 12 is connected to the support body 8 by a universal joint 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
