To provide a method, a system, and a composition for reducing actual glare and perceived glare when an object is viewed through a partially transparent medium or from a partially transparent medium.SOLUTION: A device is provided through or from which an object is viewed. The device comprises a semi-transparent material, and an optical absorber disposed in the semi-transparent material and having greater absorption for optical wavelengths between approximately 380 nm and approximately 450 nm than for optical wavelengths between approximately 500 nm and 700 nm. A first ratio of the actual glare intensity and/or the perceived glare intensity to the primary image intensity, which is integrated over all visible wavelengths, for an object viewed in transmission through the device or reflection from the device, is less than a second ratio of the actual glare intensity and/or the perceived glare intensity to the primary image intensity for the object viewed in transmission through the device or reflection from the device when the optical absorber is not disposed in the semi-transparent material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
