To provide an abnormality detection apparatus for a railway vehicle, which can detect fixing of a vehicle body by an external factor.SOLUTION: An abnormality detection apparatus (50) for a railway vehicle (10) comprises height adjusting devices (30a, 30b) and a control device (40). The height adjusting devices (30a, 30b) are disposed corresponding to air springs (22a, 22b). The height adjusting devices (30a, 30b) each include a rotary shaft and a rotational angle sensor. The rotational angle sensor detects a rotational angle of the rotary shaft. The control device (40) executes processing for acquiring information regarding the rotational angle of the rotary shaft detected by the rotational angle sensor and calculating heights of the air springs (22a, 22b) from the acquired information regarding the rotational angle of the rotary shaft. When the heights of the air springs (22a, 22b) are maintained constant at a position higher than a neutral position during a stop of the railway vehicle (10), the control device (40) executes processing for determining that a vehicle body (11) is fixed by an external factor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
