To provide a power compensator in which electric power stored in a storage battery is actively discharged and charged so as to archive efficient use of the electric power and energy conservation.SOLUTION: A power compensator comprises: a Scott-connected transformer which is connected with three phase AC power; a first single phase converter which is connected to one secondary side of the Scott-connected transformer; a second single phase converter which is connected to the other secondary side of the Scott-connected transformer; a DC circuit which connects DC side of the first single phase converter with DC side of the second single phase converter; an electric power conversion system which is connected with the DC circuit; and a storage battery which is connected with the electric power conversion system. The power compensator controls the electric power conversion system to charge at the time of light load and discharge at the time of heavy load.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
