To provide a power saving type trolley drive system and an electric trolley that can move omni-directionally.SOLUTION: A drive system 10 mounted on a trolley body 12 for driving a trolley 100 comprises: two drive steering wheels 16A and 16B, which are arranged on one diagonal of a virtual rectangle 14 assumed on an under-side surface of the trolley body 12, each have steering means 22 that can change an angle with respect to a front-rear direction of the trolley 100, and are each driven by driving means 24; and two omni-wheels 18A and 18B, which are arranged on the other diagonal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
