To provide a steering controller and steering control method capable of inhibiting degradation of vehicle maneuverability.SOLUTION: A steering controller controls a steer-by-wire type steering system for vehicles capable of changing the relationship between a steering wheel angle and pinion angle. The steering controller performs reaction force control processing, turning control processing, and adjustment processing. The reaction force control processing is processing to be performed by a reaction force control unit that controls an action of a reaction force motor so as to apply a reaction force torque. The turning control processing is processing to be performed by a turning control unit that controls an action of a turning motor so as to apply a turning torque. The adjustment processing is processing to be performed by an offset component arithmetic processing block and offset reflection processing block of the turning control unit. The reaction force control unit includes a function compensation axial force component arithmetic block that performs processing of augmenting the reaction force torque in a case where, when a target pinion angle θp* is adjusted through the adjustment processing, it is projected that an absolute value of the target pinion angle θp* may vary abruptly while augmenting.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5

    【課題】車両操縦性の悪化を抑えることができる操舵制御装置及び操舵制御方法を提供する。【解決手段】操舵制御装置は、ハンドル角とピニオン角との関係を変更可能に構成されているステアバイワイヤ式の車両用の操舵装置を制御する。操舵制御装置は、反力制御処理と、転舵制御処理と、調整処理とを実行するように構成されている。反力制御処理は、反力トルクを付与するように、反力モータの動作を制御する反力制御部の処理である。転舵制御処理は、転舵トルクを付与するように、転舵モータの動作を制御する転舵制御部の処理である。調整処理は、転舵制御部のオフセット成分演算処理部及びオフセット反映処理部の処理である。反力制御部は、上記調整処理によって目標ピニオン角θp*が調整される間、目標ピニオン角θp*の絶対値が増大するなかで急変することが推定される場合、反力トルクを増大させる処理を実行する機能補償軸力成分演算部を含む。【選択図】図5
