To provide a configuration capable of reducing a white smoke amount when starting an engine, in a vessel propulsion.SOLUTION: A vessel propulsion device 1 comprises an engine 14, a crankshaft 22, an inclination angle sensor 67, and a control unit. The engine 14 has a cylinder 31, a piston 36 arranged inside the cylinder 31, and a connecting rod 37 connected to the piston. The connecting rod 37 is connected to the crankshaft 22. The inclination angle sensor 67 detects an inclination of the cylinder 31 such that an opposite side of the crankshaft 22 is lower than the crankshaft 22 side. An ECU 61 performs first cranking control to extend a cranking time based on the inclination of the cylinder 31 and a stop time of the engine 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
