To identify an object in shape by a non-contact type to monitor a facility by scanning the object in an x direction and a y direction with electromagnetic waves in the facility.SOLUTION: A facility monitoring system 10 comprises: silhouette image acquisition devices 50, 52, 100 which are provided in a facility 20 and acquire a silhouette image of the object 30 existing in the facility 20 by irradiating the object 30 with electromagnetic waves and relatively scanning the electromagnetic waves to be irradiated and the object 30 in an x direction and a y direction; and a two-dimensional display which is provided in the facility 20 and displays, when itself or the silhouette image acquisition devices 50, 52, 100 detect a human in the facility 20, the acquired silhouette image in response to the detection and further and optionally comprises a camera 300 which is provided in the facility 20 and photographs the human existing in the facility 20 to acquire a person image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 21
