To provide a load conveyance device that makes it easy to handle in a narrow space, is light in weight, and can adjust frictional force between a driving wheel and a floor surface and to provide a load conveyance method.SOLUTION: A load conveyance device 10 includes: a frame 32; an engagement portion that is attached to the frame 32 and can be engaged with a load 74 in at least one of a forward direction and a rearward direction in a direction of movement of the load 74; a driving wheel 36 that is attached to the frame 32 and causes the frame 32 to self-travel by means of a driving force supplied from a driving unit; and a weight placing portion 50 that is provided on an opposite side of a support portion 40 with respect to the driving wheel 36, in the frame 32, and on which a weight 52 can be placed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
