To provide a misfire detection device which has improved detection accuracy by taking into consideration influence from a road surface.SOLUTION: A misfire detection device is mounted on a vehicle having an engine 21 connected to a carrier 32 which is connected to a pinion gear 24b of a planetary gear mechanism 24, and a motor generator 23 connected to a sun gear 24a of the planetary gear mechanism 24 via a sun gear shaft 33. The misfire detection device comprises: a calculation unit 12 that estimates an output torque of the engine 21 by using an engine term which performs calculation using at least the inertial moment of the engine 21 and angle acceleration, a carrier term which performs calculation using at least the inertia moment of the carrier 32 and angle acceleration, and a motor generator term which performs calculation using at least the inertia moment of the motor generator 23 and angle acceleration; and a determination unit 13 for detecting a misfire on the basis of a value of the engine output torque estimated by the calculation unit 12.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
