To provide a cargo handling assistance device with improved operability and a control method of the cargo handling assistance device.SOLUTION: A cargo handling assistance device includes a locking part 5 locking a container 38 to be tilted, a lifting/lowering operation part 16 for lifting/lowering the locking part 5 through a sling, a motor part 11 driving the lifting/lowering operation part 16, a tilt angle detection part 60 transmitting a tilt angle value of the container 38, a weight detection part 12 transmitting a weight value applied on the lifting/lowering operation part 16, a position detection part 13 transmitting a position value of the rising/lowering, and an operation command part 20 transmitting an operation command. A control part 10 includes storage means 10a receiving and storing the weight value as a registration value when receiving a command of balance control, balance control means 10b calculating a control value for making the weight value from the lifting/lowering operation part 16 equal to the registration value and giving a command to the motor part 11, and speed adjustment means 10c calculating a lifting/lowering speed for keeping a vertical position of a specific portion of the container in accordance with the tilt angle of the container at a desired position from the tilt angle value, the position value, and the weight value so as to give a command to the motor part 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
