To suppress an increase in size and cost of a power storage device by reducing the insulation performance required for the power storage device even when the serial number of storage batteries constituting the power storage device in a drive system for a railway vehicle is increased.SOLUTION: A drive system for a railway vehicle comprises: a plurality of converters which output DC voltage converted from AC voltage; a plurality of inverters which convert the DC voltage output from the converters into three-phase AC voltage to drive a motor; and a power storage device which has a serial storage battery group in which a plurality of storage batteries are serially connected and performs charging/discharging with the converters or the inverters. Each neutral point provided between DC rail tracks connecting each of the plurality of converters and each of the plurality of inverters corresponding to the converters and any inter-storage battery potential point of the serial storage battery group in the power storage device are grounded.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
